About

Women Who Walk offer walks for All Women

Stevie Rose is the inspiration behind Women Who Walk, discovering, exploring, creating, and leading most walks.

Stevie Rose has always identified as a lesbian, and in 2000 started social events for gay women in Sydney – Events for Women and later Bandanna Social Lesbians. Over the next twenty years the events morphed into day walks with hundreds of women joyfully sharing their stories as they walked. Encouraged by requests for more walks, Stevie started Women Who Walk.

Many of the women who walked formed great friendships, relationships, and even found their life partner. What started as a lesbian social event Women Who Walk has grown to include ALL women from various backgrounds and cultures in Australia and beyond, who love the freedom, camaraderie, support, adventure, and safety that comes when walking with women.

Stevie completed the Spanish Camino in 2011, her first very long walk across the north of Spain. Stevie and her girlfriend were enjoying food, wine, and travel experiences, then the realisation that 50 also welcomes menopause, so Stevie decided to add a fitness element to their adventures to balance the embrace of copious good food and wine, and the Camino sounded perfect. They enjoyed the local fare, walked up and down valleys, through pine forests, ancient cobbled pathways, walked with stray dogs, cattle, horses, through fields of sunflowers, small towns, private and public land open for pilgrims ‘on Camino,’ filled their jug with free wine from the local fountain, ate titty cheeses and truly immersed in the adventure and experience that unfolded with every step. Stevie fell in love with the multidimensional benefits of long walks, and hopes to inspire more women to step out and awaken to the joy of walking.

we are all walking each other home

Women Who Walk was launched as a platform for all women to experience the magic, the alchemy, the connection that comes when we simply walk together in amazing locations in Australia and beyond. There are a hundred stories I could share, but honestly this is the best time to walk…so much is happening in the world, in our life, I want to invite all women…. come and walk…pause, take a moment, be with yourself and nature, walk with women from diverse and interesting backgrounds, this is where the magic happens.

Let's walk!

I have enjoyed many walks led by Stevie over many years. The walks are always very scenic, varied & interesting. Stevie’s approach is extremely welcoming & inclusive, catering for varying abilities within the respective group.
The walks are always extremely well organised & well researched. Some have involved overnight stays, swims, group lunches & even a wine tasting. I love doing the walks with Stevie & would thoroughly recommend her well organised, inclusive, personable approach enabling a very enjoyable experience.
